Obituary of Alfonzo Henry Wright
Alfonzo Henry Wright, affectionately known as Hank, was born on January 11, 1948 to the late Benjamin and Alberta Wright. He departed this earthly world on Thursday November 14, 2024.
Hank was born in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in Sickerville, NJ. He attended Edgewood Regional High School where he enjoyed playing on the basketball team. After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy. He completed boot camp in Flint, Michigan and soon after was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia.
After his Navy career, he became a full-time student at Camden County College and earned his Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He furthered his education at Glassboro State College, earning him a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. After college, he decided to learn a trade in construction. With such profound skills, Hank could build and fix anything with his hands, ultimately leading him to become an entrepreneur of Master Construction Company.
Hank loved to sing and truly loved listening to Earth, Wind, & Fire. So much, that it was all you would hear him singing around the house. He never missed an opportunity to crack a joke, share a story, or call you a completely different name. Hank had a strong, loving personality. His characteristics and mannerisms were passed down to his daughters. Hank was a passionate Philadelphia sports fan who loved going to Sixers games. Whenever he could, he would watch both baseball and basketball games.
He was a loving and devoted grandfather and never hesitated to be in the crowd watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and coaching from the sideline.
Hank was preceded in death by his late wife, Patricia Wright; parents, Benjamin and Alberta Wright; brother, Bartholomew Wright; two sisters, Adele Adkins and Bernedette Knox; stepson, Walter Gardner.
